Personal Philosophy
I am engrossed in technology being inspired and intrigued with its power and ability to change the learning experience in education to increase the quality of education and to increase the success of students. My primary concern is empowering teachers to harness the power of technology integration for student learning.
As a tech integrator my responsibility is to increase the quality of education through technology for teachers and students with continuous development and information provided for the participation of everyone. My goal is to increase the success of all students through technology decreasing the gap between successful and unsuccessful students.
Each student learns in a different way than the other. Therefore, each student shall be appraised on the basis of his/her own growth and teaching methods providing students materials that are prepared in accordance with different learning types. Howard Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences along with Lev Vygotsky’s plays an enormous role in my philosophy of education. I feel in today’s society that you can’t just pick one philosophers’ theory and educate by it. Students and learning styles are so different that they don’t just fit into one philosophers’ theory. Finding what works best for each student focuses on their learning needs or type of intelligence. For me constructivism is an essential part of education. This is the belief that each person must build or construct a framework of knowledge based on what they already know prior to anything new being useful to them.
The need for students to develop learning skills that enable them to think critically, analyze information, communicate, collaborate, and problem-solve, technology plays an essential role incorporating these learning skills in today's knowledge-based society.
Technology is everywhere, touching just about every part of our lives, our communities, and our homes. Yet most schools trail far behind when it comes to integrating technology into classroom learning. Correctly used, technology will help students obtain the skills they need to survive in a multifaceted, highly technological knowledge-based economy. Successful tech integration should happen across the curriculum, which will deepen and enhance the learning process. Valuable technology integration is achieved when the use of technology is routine and transparent and when technology supports curricular goals.
