Web Design Projects

This course was a survey of the effect of light on subject – angle, brightness, contrast, color temperature, and diffusion/concentration.  Through hands on experience in an internship I worked with natural/ambient light as well as studio lighting.

I explored and seek to understand existing light, from sunlight in its many forms to the variety of indoor lighting like tungsten, florescent and halogen. I experimented at ways of modifying existing light using reflectors, umbrellas and other tools, as well as the on camera flash. The next step was to use studio lighting; hot lights and/or strobes to completely create a lighting set up.

I learned to develop a series of images bound together in concept, subject, and technique – images that are uniquely found through the eye of the photographer, Aaron Siskind.  The focus of this course was taking well thought out images in terms of composition, lighting, camera angle and subject matter and producing quality prints.  To see my final project click on the link.  Advance Studio Lighting

The purpose of this course was for me to gain a better understanding of Digital Design - Dreamweaver along with understanding the software capabilities of Dreamweaver CS3.  I developed skills in creating web ready communications, mastering design concepts and principals, web development from concept to creation, with an understanding of media ethics and copyright issues and how to manage a web page with CSS.  For examples of the sites I created click on the links below.

This was a website that my group created.

Journey Into Learning

Your final research project titled, “Frances Benjamin Johnston an Astute Pioneer in Photography.” Your paper explores the technical and creative pursuit of a pioneering woman whose life was as rare as her aesthetic contributions to the field of photography.

Utilizing excellent researched sources your narrative provides the historical context of Johnston’s life and parallel life’s work. Your balanced investigation presents the unique individualistic path of a pioneer painting an informative portrait of an outstanding person, who also happened to be a woman. Remarkable what she achieved in her lifetime.

This is a strong academic work of high quality that reflects your solid research and contextual understanding of her contributions in society. Your web page is beautifully put together and stands strong as its own individual image-laden project very fitting for our course “Images of Women in Western Civilization.”

Great work!
